This presentation, part of the Joint Initiative Council openForum on the white paper Setting the stage for the future, expresses the need for a global IPS standard in light of the current pressures on the health systems worldwide and individual healthcare providers in particular. It then goes on to introduce the notion, structure and collaboration around the IPS, current and envisioned. It concludes by highlighting the need for commitment and perseverance to deliver on the promises of the International Patient Summary.
