Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE)

IHE is an initiative by healthcare professionals and industry to improve the way computer systems in healthcare share information. IHE IHE’s processes for testing and certification, utilizing ISO17025 and ISO17065 standards respectively, provides a pathway to implementation that some consider to be more explicit and less burdensome.  The IPS Profile is a “content profile”, and can be combined with a number of “IT infrastructure profiles” to facilitate interoperability.  IHE joins with other SDO’s in facilitating testing at IHE Connectathons  held in many locations worldwide each year, and utilizing a system of independent 3rd-party attestations developed and evolving over the past 20 years.
