Canada Hosts 4th Connectathon with IPS (PS-CA)

Canada Health Infoway hosted the fourth annual Pan-Canadian Projectathon from February 24–26, 2026, bringing together vendors and jurisdictions from across Canada and internationally to test interoperability solutions aligned with pan-Canadian standards. Testing of the IPS-aligned Pan-Canadian Patient Summary (PS-CA) remained a central focus of the 2026 Projectathon. Participants validated real-world data exchange scenarios and clinical workflows, demonstrating how PS-CA supports consistent, interoperable access to patient information across systems and care settings. The Projectathon enabled:
  • Validation of PS-CA implementations exchanged via the pan-Canadian FHIR Exchange (CA:FeX) specification across multiple vendor systems
  • Alignment between PS-CA and jurisdictional specifications (e.g., PS-Alberta)
  • Early identification of integration and workflow challenges prior to deployment
By testing PS-CA in a collaborative environment, participants were able to refine their implementations and contribute to the maturation of the specification. Further details are available in the 2026 Pan-Canadian Projectathon National Wrap Report
