If you are looking for a fantastic in-depth primer on the International Patient Summary (IPS), look no further: HL7 International recently published the third webinar in the organization’s Global Passport series, dedicated to the IPS.
Titled “IPS Cross Border Collaboration and Interoperability Issues,” the webinar features Daniel Vreeman, John D’Amore, Allana Cameron, Italo Macêdo and Grant Wood, along with two very interesting vendor perspectives from both Epic and MEDITECH. The discussions range from the “digital freedoms” that HL7 FHIR enables, such as the ability to ensure safe cross-border care, to examples of the IPS in action in countries such as Canada and Brazil, to its application in genomics, implementation issues and the technical specifications that underpin the global interoperability of the IPS, among other topics.
