Brazil’s IPS project

Brazil is aiming to make the IPS available for every citizen in the country. The project is carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the hospital of excellence Hospital Sírio-Libanês.

Brazil is using their national repository containing health data from every citizen in the country. This repository contains data on primary care and outpatient encounters, immunizations, lab results and prescriptions. The IPS is built in real-time from the clinical data in this repository. The IPS will be made available on the Meu SUS Digital Superapp, the digital gateway to Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS). The expectation is that the IPS will be available for every citizen in the country by the end of 2024.

The Brazilian IPS initiative is also described in an article in Oxford Open Digital Health.
